About Me

Hey, everyone. I'm Larry. I've been a member of UD since May 07 and have been a wrestling fan since May 1999. The very first WWF/WWE PPV that I saw was Over The Edge '99.

I also ran across WCW and ECW as well;

Sometimes I would flip back and forth from Raw to Nitro, or I would watch the Nitro replay later in the evening at 12 a.m. I also watched Thunder, WorldWide (the weekend recap show w/ a few matches), and WCW Saturday Night. I missed WCW's better days, but the 1999-2001 period wasn't that bad; I would prefer it over current WWE any day, as I've been watching that era, and earlier stuff on YouTube. Some WCW memories I have are Jeff Jarrett and Sid Vicious' reigns as WCW Champion, the New Blood/Millionaire's Club feud, the Sting/Vampiro feud, La Parka as the 'chairman' of WCW (complete w/ dubbed-over voice), Booker T winning the WCW title, and Goldberg's heel turn (although most didn't like it).

"One of the reasons why Nitro was able to do so well and was able dominate as long as it did was the nature of the content; It felt real. There were enough unique elements within Nitro where even the most jaded fan went 'That wasn't supposed to happen'."---Eric Bischoff

"The best way to provide a successful T.V. show, I believe, was to offer something for everyone, and I think we did that. Whether it was the Nitro Girls, or Goldberg smashing someone within 2 minutes or Hogan, Hall, and Nash doing the nWo gig, the cast of characters we had at the time (Macho Man, Hogan, Sting, and Flair), it was unbelievable, but we did have a little bit of everything for everybody. Depending on what it was you wanted to tune in and watch, you were insatiated every time you tuned in to WCW"---Bill Goldberg

"To me, WCW was never a bad thing. They were the competition that we faced every Monday night, that we wanted to beat, but never hated."---Jim Ross (The Rise and Fall of WCW)

ECW was on Fridays or Saturdays at 12/1 a.m. (sometimes later) on a syndicated channel, and eventually on TNN on Fridays. I was/still am a huge fan of this promotion, and own both the Bloodsport and Extreme Rules DVDs. I couldn't get enough of the hardcore action; tables, chairs, barbed wire, and anything/everything in-between was used, and I was hooked the minute I saw it. I enjoyed Rob Van Dam's T.V. title reign until it ended due to his ankle injury. Other memories from that time frame were Mike Awesome as ECW Champion, the Dudley Boyz talking trash to the fans, watching Spike Dudley getting rag-dolled in his matches, Joey Styles' trademark 'OH, MY GOD!' and the Tazz/Sabu feud.

"You cannot achieve success without the risk of failure. And I learned a long time ago, you cannot achieve success, if you fear failure. If you're not afraid to fail, man, you have a chance to succeed. But you're never gonna get there unless you risk it, all the way. I'll risk failure. Sometimes, half the fun is failing. Learning from your mistakes, waking up the next morning, and saying 'Okay. Watch out. Here I come again. A little bit smarter, licking my wounds, and really not looking forward to getting my ass kicked the way I just did yesterday.' So now, I'm just a little more dangerous."---Paul Heyman (The Rise and Fall of ECW)
